Turn away and slam the door. If you immediately recognise those lyrics as ‘Let it Go’, the theme song from the movie, Frozen, chances are you have a child in your home who’s been watching it on repeat (and singing along at the top of their lungs!). You’re not the only one. Disney’s animated tale of two sisters has induced nothing short of Frozen mania around the globe, with just about every small human from toddler to tween (particularly little princesses) completely and utterly obsessed.

Based on the fairy tale ‘The Snow Queen’, Frozen tells the story of Queen Elsa of Arendelle who was born with the magical ability to create snow and ice. But lack of control over her powers keeps her isolated from her younger sister, Anna, and after completely losing control and creating a never-ending winter, she runs away from her kingdom. The heart-warming story of these two sisters, and little Anna’s quest to reunite with her big sister, Elsa, has tugged on tiny heartstrings around the world and created a pop-culture phenomenon that no one could have predicted.

The movie’s success is unprecedented. Frozen has now become the fifth highest-grossing film and the highest-grossing animation in history. But the Frozen mania doesn’t stop at bumper box office numbers and a Billboard topping soundtrack. Just about every Frozen-obsessed person in the country is desperate for any Frozen merchandise they can get their hands on; with Anna and Elsa dolls and costumes right at the top of the list.

And if you’re a parent of one of a Frozen-obsessed child, you’ll know that the demand for Frozen merchandise has far outweighed the supply. With stock extremely limited or in some cases sold out, the effort to track down a hastily promised Elsa doll or Anna dress quickly unfolds into a scene from The Amazing Race, frantically rushing from one store to the next.
