The most profitable vintage cars

Vintage Cars Post

Investing in a vintage car can be a tricky process and it’s not a decision that should jump into.

Whether you’re looking for a cool weekend car, an investment or both. You should always do your homework and make sure you know what you’re buying.

When you find a great vintage car that you want to buy; take it to an auto expert to ensure you’re getting what you paid for.

We’ve done some research and come up with a few things to look out for when buying a vintage car.

Where there’s rust, there’s trouble

If you see big chunks of rust in and around the car – walk away! Little bits of rust are fine, it’s when you see huge spots where you should worry. You don’t want to spend a lot of money rebuilding a car, with little to no return on investment.

The lower the KM’s, the higher the price

It may sound obvious but if there’s fewer KM’s on the clock than the more the car’s worth. But don’t get too hung up on KM’s, it can be a good thing and you may find a good deal on a car that has higher KM’s at a lower price. Make sure that the car has been well maintained and looked after by its previous owner(s). If you’re looking for an investment, low km’s will get you a higher return in the future.

By the numbers

Make sure the numbers match on the car, make sure the VIN number is correct. Most engines have the last six digits of the VIN number stamped on them, which makes it easy to check. The transmission and rear end are a bit trickier. These usually have stamped date codes, which you can look up to determine if the dates sync. If the numbers don’t match up, the price should reflect that the car hasn’t got all the original factory parts though. If all the numbers match up, then you’re onto a winner.

Research before you buy

Do your research on Gumtree and through Google before making your decision. There are so many cars to choose from and you can usually find what you’re looking for when you’ve done your homework. We live in a digital world now and you can find most anything online – that includes the right car and how much it’s worth. Search the same car you’re looking for and compare the asking prices. You can also do a search on how much the same model has sold for in the past as well as the condition of the car.
